Blaming Lyndon Johnson

1964 Republican presidential nominee Barry Goldwater jokingly blamed President Lyndon Johnson for interrupting a whistle-stop speech in Johnstown, Pennsylvania.

When Goldwater’s speech was interrupted for several minutes by a passing freight train, he said, “Lyndon will do anything to keep me from speaking. I just waved to him on the caboose.”
